We’re an organization representing: members of the Kansas wind and solar energy industry; project developers and investors; land owners; manufacturers and suppliers; counties and school districts; and the thousands of employees working in Kansas in the renewable energy industry.
Kansas ranks 4th in the nation for installed wind capacity, and 2nd in the U.S. for the largest percentage of electricity generated by wind power, with the state receiving 41.6% of its electricity from wind generation facilities. Kansas also holds the most aggressive renewable energy goal in the country, counting on wind and solar to power 50% of the state’s electricity by 2020.
The state’s wind industry continues to grow, with 41 operating wind farms producing 6,700MW of electricity, enough to power more than 2 million homes.
