OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Advanced Power Alliance (APA) today announced that Tristan Newbold has joined the organization as Manager of Government Relations for Oklahoma and other SPP states. In this role, Newbold will lead APA’s efforts at the Oklahoma State Capitol, support legislative efforts in other Southwest Power Pool (SPP) states where APA is active, and engage with any other state agencies relevant to the power generation and energy storage industries.
“Oklahoma has long been one of the nation’s most important energy markets, and it continues to present tremendous opportunities for investment and growth,” said APA President and CEO Jeff Clark. “Our members need an advocate at the Capitol who understands how to navigate complex and consequential energy policy issues, and who has the relationships and judgment to be effective from day one. Tristan delivers. He’s hardworking, trusted, and an excellent communicator, and we’re thrilled to have him leading APA’s efforts in Oklahoma.”
Immediately prior to joining APA, Newbold served as Director of Legislative Affairs & Public Relations at the Oklahoma Commissioners of the Land Office, where he led the agency’s legislative affairs and public relations efforts. Newbold brings other experience in Oklahoma government and energy policy, having previously served with the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority and the Oklahoma Office of the Secretary of Energy and Environment.

Tristan Newbold is a native of Edmond, Oklahoma, and earned his undergraduate degree in university studies, with minors in marketing and international business, from Oklahoma State University. He and his wife of four years, Lexie, live in Luther, Oklahoma.
