Seventeen Cities Across Texas Celebrate Clean Energy Week

AUSTIN – Seventeen geographically and politically diverse cities across Texas recently celebrated National Clean Energy Week (NCEW) with local proclamations. These measures are dedicated to recognizing the impact that proactive policymaking, energy industry jobs, and technological innovations will have in powering a modern economy and reducing emissions.

“Texas is the nation’s leader in production of all major energy resources,” said Judd Messer, Texas Vice President of the Advanced Power Alliance. “The cities celebrating National Clean Energy Week are signaling a strong commitment to supporting investment in Texas energy, ensuring lower costs for consumers through more efficient energy production and consumption, and the long-term viability of our planet.”

This year, the last week of September marked NCEW’s six-year anniversary focusing on the wide range of clean energy sources available including solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal, nuclear, natural gas, biomass, carbon capture, and waste-to-energy technologies.

“It’s refreshing to see such a diverse set of communities committed to harnessing our state’s energy potential. Clearly, these mayors understand the need tocontinue propelling Texas towards cleaner, more affordable, homegrown power that will yield higher-paying jobs, healthier economies, and national energy security along the way.” Messer concluded.
