From ERCOT – The next generation of the free ERCOT Energy Saver mobile app is now available for Apple and Android devices.
The upgrade features a new user interface that includes hourly and real-time system conditions, wholesale prices, and access to other information about ERCOT, the grid and the competitive electric market.
“We continue to make this app more user-friendly and useful for anyone who wants to learn more about the ERCOT market and grid conditions,” said ERCOT Corporate Communications Director Theresa Gage. “We are particularly pleased to provide wholesale pricing information in this update.”
The app features settlement point prices, updated every 15 minutes, along with a map showing current prices in ERCOT’s four competitive load zones. Although these are wholesale prices and do not reflect the actual retail prices paid by consumers, the updates offer a simple, easily accessible way for market participants and other interested stakeholders to stay aware of ERCOT market conditions throughout the day.
In addition to new features and a colorful new look, the app also will continue to offer push notifications. When ERCOT is experiencing high demand and conservation is critical, ERCOT will send these notifications, which users also can share through the most popular social media channels. It also offers easy access to recent ERCOT news releases and other timely, practical information.
“We will continue to update this app to make it more valuable for consumers, market participants and other people with an interest in ERCOT,” said Gage. “The next update, out later this year, will provide information about the fuels being used to generate power.”
ERCOT worked with Handsome, an Austin-based web and mobile app design and development agency, to upgrade the app. About 9,000 people use the original ERCOT Energy Saver app, which was developed by an in-house team in 2012.
