It’s Official. 2016 ERCOT Wind Energy Use Exceeded 15%.

It is now official, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) 2016 Demand and Energy Report shows that wind-powered generation resources provided 15.1% of the energy used in ERCOT for calendar year ended December 31, 2016.

Interestingly, the production from wind-power in 2016 exceeded that produced by all 4 nuclear units in ERCOT by 25%.

Every MWh of electricity generated by wind energy brings Texas consumers electricity that is cleaner and cheaper than alternatives.  And, wind has the added benefit of being made in the state – keeping energy dollars working at home.
