The Advanced Power Alliance was stunned and saddened to learn that our dear friend and long-time ERCOT Advisor Walter Reid passed away on Friday, March 24.

Walter served this organization for 20 years, guiding our work in the ERCOT market, advising us on technical issues related to power generation, and advising us broadly on market and transmission issues.

Walter was a well-respected advocate and a leader in the ERCOT stakeholder community. He was an integral part of the Advanced Power Alliance’s daily work and each of us has benefited from his intellect, institutional knowledge, wisdom, and candor.

We, and the industries we represent, are all beneficiaries of Walter’s work on our behalf. Texas and ERCOT are better places and better markets thanks to his efforts. Renewable energy owes much of its success in this state to the work of Walter Reid.

We will spend time at our June board meeting reflecting on his memory, sharing those stories, toasting him, and honoring his legacy.

A Celebration of Walt’s life is planned on April 8, 2023. From the hosts:
