Group will bridge the gap between policy and project construction,
ensuring that APA’s advocacy supports the workers and companies
who build the energy projects on which America relies.
The Advanced Power Alliance (APA) is pleased to announce the creation of the Energy Construction and Workforce Council, a new advisory body designed to strengthen APA’s advocacy on the issues that shape the construction of modern energy infrastructure.
The Council brings together APA members and construction-trade companies involved in the engineering, procurement, and construction of advanced energy projects—including wind, solar, energy storage, natural gas generation, emerging nuclear technologies, and transmission infrastructure. Its purpose is to ensure that APA’s policy positions and regulatory engagement reflect the real-world experience of the companies and workers who build these projects.
Through direct input from construction and workforce experts, the Council will help identify barriers and cost drivers that slow or increase the cost of project delivery. It will support APA’s work to streamline permitting, reduce unnecessary regulatory burdens, improve project efficiency, and ensure that project timelines and budgets align with industry realities. The group will also advise APA on workforce development opportunities, including partnerships that expand technical education, apprenticeship programs, and training initiatives critical to meeting the sector’s growing labor needs.
APA is proud to announce that Steffanie Dohn of McCarthy has been appointed as the inaugural Chair of the Energy Construction and Workforce Council. Steffanie’s extensive experience in construction, workforce strategy, and energy-sector collaboration makes her uniquely suited to lead this effort. Under her leadership, the Council will foster collaboration among EPC firms, contractors, and APA member companies to ensure that policy discussions remain grounded in practical industry expertise.
Governed by the APA Executive Committee, the Council will meet regularly and provide insight and recommendations to the APA Board of Directors for inclusion in the organization’s unified advocacy agenda.
The creation of the Energy Construction and Workforce Council underscores APA’s commitment to bridging the gap between policy and project execution, ensuring that our advocacy supports those who make advanced energy development possible.
