America’s LNG Boom Demands an All-of-the-Above Energy Strategy, Before Power Prices Surge at Home

The U.S. Energy Information Administration’s latest report paints a striking picture of America’s energy future. North American LNG export capacity is on track to more than double by 2029—from about 11.4 billion cubic feet per day to nearly 28.7 billion. The United States alone will add nearly 14 billion cubic feet per day of new export capacity, strengthening our role as the world’s leading supplier of clean, reliable natural gas.

That’s a tremendous achievement, but it comes with challenges we cannot afford to ignore. As the world’s demand for American LNG soars, demand for electricity here at home is also surging—fueled by the reshoring of manufacturing, the rise of AI and data centers, and rapid electrification across every sector of our economy. Natural gas remains the backbone of our power grid, yet building new gas plants today can take five to seven years. New nuclear capacity can take more than a decade. Meanwhile, wind, solar, and energy storage projects can be permitted and constructed in a fraction of that time.

This is why our energy policies must stop treating different power sources as political symbols and start treating them as essential partners. The reality is that America’s future power supply depends on all of them—wind, solar, energy storage, nuclear, and natural gas working together to deliver affordable, reliable energy for every household and business.

Unfortunately, today’s federal policies are doing the opposite. By targeting the most affordable and dependable sources of electricity while dragging out approvals for new infrastructure, this administration is setting the stage for higher prices and grid stress. If we stay on this path, consumers will pay the price—literally—and history shows that political leaders who create energy crises rarely survive them.

It’s time to return to balance and pragmatism. America needs an #AlloftheAbove and #MoreofEverything energy strategy that values every resource, accelerates project timelines, and keeps power abundant, reliable, and affordable for the people who make this country run.
