With a mix of hydropower, solar, storage, and advanced grid technologies, the Volunteer State is building a diversified energy portfolio that is reliable, affordable, and increasingly renewable.

 

Tennessee already benefits from one of the largest hydropower networks in the nation—thanks to the Tennessee Valley Authority—and is now embracing utility-scale solar and battery storage as essential components of its energy future. The state has seen a surge in solar capacity in recent years, and more projects are on the way as demand rises from residents, businesses, and manufacturers seeking clean, low-cost electricity.

 

Through our advocacy programs, the Advanced Power Alliance is working to expand transmission infrastructure, support pro-renewable policies, and promote fair permitting and siting standards across Tennessee. We are defending the rights of communities and landowners to participate in the clean energy economy and pushing back against efforts to restrict access to affordable, homegrown power.

 

With its strong industrial base, skilled labor force, and strategic geographic position, Tennessee is uniquely positioned to lead in the clean energy transition. Renewable energy and storage projects are already creating jobs, attracting investment, and strengthening grid resilience—particularly in rural areas where new infrastructure can deliver lasting economic benefits.
