THE FUTURE OF ENERGY IS GROWING IN NEBRASKA.
Nebraska is proving that rural strength and renewable innovation go hand in hand. With its world-class wind resources, growing solar potential, and a strong foundation of local leadership, Nebraska is rapidly emerging as a regional leader in advanced energy development.
Today, wind energy alone generates enough electricity to power nearly 1 million homes across the state—providing reliable, low-cost energy to families, farmers, and businesses. This clean energy boom has already saved Nebraskans over $1.2 billion in electricity costs, while creating jobs, generating tax revenue, and supporting landowners and communities across the state.
Through our advocacy programs, the Nebraska Power Alliance and the Advanced Power Alliance work to expand transmission infrastructure, support smart tax and siting policies, and promote fair treatment for renewable energy, storage, and emerging technologies like green hydrogen and advanced nuclear. We stand with counties, municipalities, school districts, and landowners who benefit from Nebraska’s clean energy growth—and we oppose efforts to restrict or delay the state’s transition to cleaner, more affordable power.
Nebraska’s energy story is uniquely local. As the only state where publicly owned utilities serve all residents, Nebraska has the opportunity to harness its advanced energy potential in ways that directly benefit its people. From local electric co-ops to state university research partnerships, Nebraska is positioned to lead with a homegrown energy economy rooted in affordability, independence, and innovation.
As part of an “all of the above” solution, wind, solar, energy storage, and advanced nuclear are building a cleaner, more resilient grid for future generations. The energy future is here now—and Nebraska’s skies, landscapes, and communities are ready to power it.
Cleaner. Smarter. Made in Nebraska. The Cornhusker State is just getting started.
