Mississippi is poised to become a regional leader in renewable energy development and grid modernization. With abundant land, strong solar resources, access to regional transmission infrastructure, and a growing appetite for investment in clean energy, the Magnolia State is attracting attention as a smart location for new solar, battery storage, and advanced power technologies.
The Advanced Power Alliance is working in Mississippi to support policies that encourage responsible energy development, attract capital investment, and create jobs in rural communities. Through our advocacy, we’re promoting fair tax structures, streamlined siting and permitting rules, and a level playing field for all energy sources—including renewables. We are also advocating for transmission upgrades that will help unlock the state’s full energy potential and connect Mississippi-made power to customers across the Southeast and beyond.
Mississippi’s energy story is evolving. In addition to traditional resources like natural gas, the state is now home to hundreds of megawatts of installed solar capacity—with more on the way. Battery storage projects are also emerging, helping to modernize the grid and improve resilience during periods of high demand or severe weather.
With its strategic location, pro-business climate, and an energy-savvy workforce, Mississippi is ready to seize the opportunities of a 21st-century power economy. Solar, storage, and advanced energy projects are bringing new life to rural areas, diversifying the state’s energy mix, and helping to deliver power that is cleaner, more affordable, and made right here in Mississippi.
The energy future is just beginning—and Mississippi is ready to grow with it.
