ALABAMA

THE FUTURE OF ENERGY IS EMERGING IN ALABAMA.

Alabama is positioned to be a Southern leader in renewable energy and energy innovation. With strong solar potential, growing interest in energy storage, and a legacy of energy infrastructure development, the state is beginning to harness the benefits of clean, homegrown power.

In recent years, Alabama has steadily expanded its solar footprint, and with additional investment in utility-scale projects and battery storage, the state is preparing to meet rising demand with more diverse, reliable, and affordable energy sources. With its central location and connection to regional transmission networks, Alabama is also well-placed to export clean power across the Southeast.

Through our advocacy programs, the Advanced Power Alliance is working to expand access to transmission, promote fair permitting and tax policies, and defend the rights of communities and landowners who want to participate in the clean energy economy. We’re standing against attempts to stall renewable development and advocating for energy policies that ensure Alabama remains competitive in a changing national energy landscape.

Alabama’s energy legacy is built on strength—strength in resources, workforce, and innovation. The state has long been a powerhouse in traditional generation, but today it’s embracing an “all of the above” strategy that includes solar, storage, and advanced grid technologies. With its abundant sunshine, favorable land conditions, and forward-looking utilities and co-ops, Alabama has everything it needs to thrive in the clean energy future.

As demand for affordable, reliable electricity continues to grow, Alabama has the opportunity to power that growth with energy that is Cleaner, Smarter, and Made in Alabama. From rural communities to growing urban centers, clean energy is bringing new investment, new jobs, and new opportunities to the state.

The future of energy is taking shape in Alabama—and it’s only just getting started.
